Easter Holidays

We had so much fun over the holidays exploring everything from slime to erupting volcanos! The weather allowed all ages to spend lots of time outside too! Our younger children explored everything sensory with messy play and textures! We loved having a big easter egg hunt around the estate too!

Pre – School Open Afternoon

This May we are opening our pre-school doors to give parents the chance to have a look around and to talk to staff about our practice. We are inviting parents to drop in between 2.30-4.30pm on Monday 21st May. All parents who attend can sign into our prize draw of A MONTHS FREE childcare. There will also be goodies and snack available for all the children J All our current parents the recommendation incentive (see below) will be valid for this open day too so please spread the word!

Eco Council

Our eco council have been very busy this month, they have made a bug hotel in the garden. We used old milk containers to make baskets to transport all our belongings. The children have learnt from Eco Elephant about recycling and how to organise items into our different bags! Polar Bears have also made some rain catchers and have been looking at ways to recycle our water – we watered our plants and topped up the fish tank!

We are doing so well that we will shortly be applying for our Bronze Eco School award…watch this space…

Policy of the Term

4.1 The role of the key person and settling-in

Policy statement

At Sandy Bears Nursery Cholmondeley we believe that children settle best when they have a key person to relate to, who knows them and their parents well, and who can meet their individual needs. Research shows that a key person approach benefits the child, the parents, the staff and the setting by providing secure relationships in which children thrive, parents have confidence, our staff are committed and the setting is a happy and dedicated place to attend or work in.

We want children to feel safe, stimulated and happy in the setting and to feel secure and comfortable with our staff. We also want parents to have confidence in both their children’s well-being and their role as active partners with our setting. We aim to make our setting a welcoming place where children settle quickly and easily because consideration has been given to the individual needs and circumstances of children and their families.

Recommendation Incentive

We have been overwhelmed by the response to our setting and lots of new parents have come to us on the recommendation of other families. To thank our current parents for this we are starting a referral incentive. Any parents who recommend us to a new family who then sign up will receive a free session! There is no limit to how many sessions you can receive, the family signing up simply need to name you on their registration forms! J

Suncream and Hats

As the weather is (hopefully) warming up we are reminding parents to provide hats and sun cream to make sure our littlies are safe! You can leave a bottle of labelled sun cream in to be kept safely here or you can pop some in their bag each session, thank you J

School Transitions

Now all of our pre-schoolers have found out which school they will be attending in September we will now be contacting schools to invite the class teacher in to Sandy Bears. This will ensure the children meet their teacher in a ‘safe’ place and we can pass on lots of information on all of the childrens development. If you have any other questions regarding the school transition please speak to Astone or Amy.

Dress Up Days

At Sandy Bears we think it is important to follow the interests of the children to extend their learning! We are going to be doing some dress up days this term and all of our daily activities will be centered on this interest! If your child has a particular interest at home please let us know and we can develop this here J
